How to Connect a SATA Dvd Writer

SATA, or Serial Ata, is a commonly used interface used for internal computer components such as a DVD writer. The SATA interface is distinguished from an older internal interface called IDE by its red, small flat cables and increased speed. Installing a SATA DVD writer adds DVD burning capabilities to your computer, and the SATA interface allows the burn speed to get quite high, depending on the model of the DVD burner

Instructions

Power down your computer completely. Disconnect any and all cables from the computer tower. Remove the computer’s cover. The removal method depends on your case style. You may need to remove screws on the box or unhook a latch.

Screw the included brackets to the DVD burner if required.

Remove a section of the plastic cover over the slot that the DVD burner is being installed in. Slide the DVD burner into place, pushing it in far enough that the front of the drive is flush with the case.

Connect the SATA cable to the interface port on the back, left side of the drive. Insert a power cable to the DVD burner’s power connector. Connect the other end of the SATA cable to your motherboard’s SATA port. The specific location of the SATA interface port varies greatly depending on the motherboard you’re using. Consult the computer or motherboard manual.
