Best 3D Laptops Gathering(Part 2)
Let’s continue to join the 3D bandwagon by comparing these laptops together.
Boasting a matte silver anodized aluminum lid that doesn’t pick up fingerprints, Dell XPS 15 may not impress us as the somewhat dull color. On the plus side, we appreciate the small black bar that sticks out behind the lid and has a backlit XPS logo that flashes when the system’s asleep. We also like that the matte finish continues on the sides and bottom, areas too often ignored by other notebook makers.
XPS laptops are the first Dell laptops to offer integrated NVIDIA 3DTV Play technology. Simply connect your laptop to your 3D-enabled TV and project your games, Blu-ray 3D movies and 3D photo slideshows for a real-life theater experience. Dell XPS 15 is powered with 3D capabilities, HD video chat, JBL Speakers, and is the First Skype certified laptop range.
Dell XPS 15 packs Core i7-740QM processor, Intel HM57 motherboard chip, 2GB video memory, NVIDIA GeForce GT 435M graphics card; 4GB DDR3-1333MHz memory and 640GB 7200 Rpm Hard drive, and double-layer DVD burner. Dell XPS 15 also supports Intel 1000 wireless card, built-in WiDi, GPS Bluetooth (3.0) Mini-Card; pre-installed Home Premium Genuine Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
MSI FR600 comes with polarized glasses, which has adopted the same TriDef 3D program of Lenovo’s 3D notebook. The outside cover of MSI FR600 3D Notebook features totem seal coating to protect it against scratching and smudges while the inside cover comes with silver components that stand out in contrast with the jet black color theme. MSI FR600 3D Notebook itself offers THX smart wrap around sound and sports the exclusive TDE technology which can improve the system performance instantly by pressing the mirror finish P1 hot key above the keyboard.
Positioning as a 3D multimedia notebook, MSI FR600 provides you with multi-faceted 3D experience. It is a bit pity that MSI FR600 comes with Intel’s integrated graphics for many people. With 15.6 inch LED backlight screen, MSI FR600 is powered by Intel Core i5 processors and supports up to 8GB DDR3 1333 memory and Hard Disk capacity of optional 320GB, 500GB, or 640GB.
Toshiba 3D Laptop
Toshiba’s Dynabook TX/98MBL laptop pushes separate 60Hz frames to each eye (120Hz total), enabling what could be the first consumer 3D laptop utilizing active shutter 3D technology. The laptop has a 15.6-inch LCD display with LED backlighting and houses a Blu-ray Disc Drive.
The TX/98MBL is a hearty machine with a 640GB hard drive, four gigabytes of RAM, and Intel Core i7-740QM processor. The laptop is powered by GeForce GTS 350M hardware (1GB RAM) and run on NVIDIA’s 3D Vision software. A pair of active shutter glasses has been included with the laptop, and a plug-in transmitter syncs the glasses with the 3D software.
Toshiba Satellite A660 3D Laptop
Toshiba Satellite A660 itself looks impressively built. The case mixes glossy black with faux carbon fiber textures and is far from the most subtle end of the design scale. Then again, when you’re buying a laptop that comes with 3D glasses, one should expect a little flare to it. Even so, the A660 isn’t so garish that it would look completely out of place in a business environment.
Toshiba Satellite A660 3D Laptop arms with a powerful core i5 560M processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM and also equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GTS 350M with a dedicated 1GB DDR 3 discrete graphics memory which takes gaming to a whole new level of experience.
Sony 3D Laptop
The Sony Vaio 3D laptop will be arriving next spring, and will use active shutter glasses, just the like projector it announced at the same time. The prototypes shown at IFA use “frame-sequential” technology that rapidly cycles the full screen between left-eye and right-eye views, with blank screens in between each to reduce the “crosstalk” that can reduce 3D image quality. This model comes with a “3D” button and active-shutter glasses to separate what the right and left eyes see.
According to Sony these 3D VAIO laptops are using “200Hz high frame rate technology and LED backlight”, however this does not make it completely clear if the LCD display can actually function at 200Hz (240Hz) refresh rate or it is at 100Hz (120Hz) like on the 3D TVs, but also uses some sort of internal algorithm to interpolate the frames to achieve smoother movement.
But more details will probably become available as we are getting closer to the actual release of the products on the market.
