which gives better range 5.8 or 900 also do i need digital line for the dect 6.00 phone?
need a new phone but something with a long range i like the features of the dect but do i need to have a digital line? does the 900 have a longer range than the 5.8 phones
all phones are going to be simular. The big difference is “in-band noise”. Right now, 900MHz is a popular band, lots of junk, lots of noise. Same with 1.2GHz and 2.4GHz, lots of stuff sharing the bands.
5.8GHz is not as populated, 5.8GHz does not have the physical line-of-sight distance as 900MHz, too much attenuation at the higher microwave frequencies.
BUT since 5.8GHz is not as crowded as the lower bands, then you can get better “range”. Just keep in mind that your “range” is still under 100 yards, and things in the way attenuate the signal, walls, carpet, out doors, trees, grass, will all cut the “range”.
DECT is the function of the phone, not the phone service.
